6 Bloggers, 60 Days, 6 Beautiful Transformations
We challenged 6 bloggers to renovate their bathrooms, and the results have us floored.
Renovation season is officially upon us, and that got us thinking: What better way to celebrate than with a bathroom-makeover blitz? We teamed up with six bloggers to completely transform their bathrooms using product from Wayfair’s Home Improvement section. The catch? They had to make it happen in under 60 days. The results are impressive, to say the least. Check out all six makeovers, and see what happens when you put a selection this wide in the hands of a DIYer with a vision.
Before: Washed Out & Basic
The Talent: Annie Anderson
Her Blog: Zevy Joy
The Location: Edmonds, WA
The Problem: The builder-basic vanity and fixtures didn’t fit in with the rest of the home.
The Solution: By painting the bathroom a crisp white, updating the light fixture and toilet, and adding an elegant marble vanity, Anderson was able to create a bright and clean-looking space. The live-edge wooden stool and Moroccan rugs keep the bathroom looking current and more in tune with the rest of her home.
After: Bright & Organic
Before: Dated & Underrated
The Talent: Claire Brody
Her Blog: Claire Brody Designs
The Location: Austin, TX
The Problem: With blush subway tile and dated details, this space was in serious need of an upgrade.
The Solution: By painting the wainscoting and trim a bold black, adding eclectic wallpaper, and layering in visually interesting accessories, Brody turned her tired bathroom into an exciting and well-styled space. A night-and-day transformation, the changes make the space feel completely remade.
After: Dark & Dramatic
Before: Plain & Mundane
The Talent: Jenni Holmes
Her Blog: Dear Lillie
The Location: Williamsburg, VA
The Problem: While Holmes is known for her glamorous farmhouse style, this bathroom was anything but.
The Solution: The blogger did away with her boring bathroom tile, swapping it out for stylish marble instead. She kept her gray double vanity, but upgraded it by changing out the pulls and faucets. The space is further elevated by her choice of floral wallpaper, and the one-light gold sconce adds an unexpected dose of modernity.
After: Floral & Traditional
Before: Tired & Uninspired
The Talent: Jess Oakes
Her Blog: Positively Oakes
The Location: Star, ID
The Problem: An unremarkable space, Oakes’ bathroom clearly wasn’t living up to its potential. The parts were there, but elements of character were still missing.
The Solution: Oakes knew she wanted her space to feel bright, so she added lots of white in the form of subway tiles and paint. She brought in contrast by adding black pulls to her vanity, choosing dark wood flooring, and using dark grout between the tiles. The result is an airy yet grounded look.
After: Clean & Simple
Before: Mismatched & Dim
The Talent: Joy Prouty
Her Blog: Wildflowers Photograhy
Location: Nashville, TN
The Problem: Prouty loves a vintage look, but this out-of-fashion mix wasn’t up to snuff. The vanity was outdated, the tiles looked dingy, and the green paint made the bathroom look smaller than it actually was.
The Solution: By adding white wainscoting, replacing the tiles with white penny porcelain, and adding beautiful vintage accents, Prouty completely opened up the room. The bathroom now has a cohesive look, and appears more spacious than it ever did before.
After: Vintage & Eclectic
Before: Lackluster & Lifeless
The Talent: Roxanne West
Her Blog: Bonjour Bliss Blog
The Location: ON, Canada
The Problem: The space was dark and everything needed updating—especially the shower and tub.
The Solution: West transformed her bathroom by incorporating an unexpected mix of patterns and materials into her design. Mosaic tiles make a graphic statement, while the elegant clawfoot tub and brass fixtures add old-school charm.
